Being Humane
The kids and I were on our way home last night from Nathan’s house, and someone ahead of us hit a cat, and just left it there in the road…it was still alive and suffering. I know not all people are animal lovers or fond of cats, but you don’t just hit an animal and leave it in the middle of the road suffering like that!! It was a pretty gruesome site, and there was no doubt that the poor cat was going to die, but at least give it some dignity, cover it up, bury it, something!
We stopped and moved the poor cat out of the road and caressed it for a few minutes while it took its last few breaths, which was hard to do. I hated to watch the cat suffer, but I was trying to show a little humanity. I picked the cat up, stuck it in my trunk, and buried it in our back yard. I’m not sure that was the right thing to do since it’s someone else’s pet, but I almost think it’s better for them to think their cat is with a good family. I wouldn’t want to see my cat like that. I don’t know, maybe I did the wrong thing, but I couldn’t bare to leave it there exposed like that, like I said it was pretty gruesome so I will not elaborate. I’m going to watch for signs for a missing cat, and will explain what happened if I find someone looking for this cat.
It makes me sad that people just leave an animal suffering like that! Have a little humanity people!
